Lunch event - Relationship Belgium & the Netherlands, role in the EU & NATO

 

Dear Alumni and Friends of Harvard,

 

We have the great pleasure to invite you to an interactive and thought-provoking discussion with Belgian journalist Rik Van
Cauwelaert and Dutch diplomat Han Peters on the relationship between Belgium and the Netherlands and their role
within the EU and NATO.

 

Rik Van Cauwelaert is a renowned journalist, best known for his political expertise. From 1997 until 2006 he was editor in
chief of Knack. In 2011 was appointed strategy director of Roularta magazines. Today he still writes regularly for Knack and
De Tijd.

 

Han Peters is the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brussels. He has a rich career at
the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs where he’s been active since 2000, including positions as the Dutch ambassador in
South-Africa, Brazil and Afghanistan.

 

Our two speakers will be sharing their perspectives on a variety of key topics, such as the recent evolution in the
relationship between Belgium and the Netherlands, on their position within the EU and NATO, on the importance of Brexit
for the Netherlands, on the significance of the Benelux partnership, on the status of technology and innovation within the
Low Countries and what it means for the future of Europe.

The fee for this event will be €35 for members and €45 for non-members (guests and non-member alumni). The maximum
amount of guests will be limited to 30 (on a first come, first served basis). Please note, due to limited capacity, we
encourage you to register early. Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds for cancellations after the registration deadline.
